The UI rate remained the same as last month. September 2017 UI rate is 3.0% just the same as August 2017’s 3.0%. The UI rate in September of 2016 was 4.7%. Typically we will see the UI rate drop this time of year and continue to decline as the year comes to an end. New UI claims went up slightly from last month, but are lower compared to this time last year. The labor force increased slightly as well as it has been since July of this year, which is good to see but is still slightly lower than this time last year. Job orders in Mesa County compared to one year prior are significantly higher.
